E Lied to Me

And I am glad he did.

You know how it goes. I leave town, call home and E says “All is well.” He did that while I was in Birmingham.

But when I called home AFTER the event, Eric said “Okay so I guess I can tell you now.” Apparently while I was gone a few things went wrong. More than once E realized he had to be 2 places at once (apparently E and I did not coordinate appointments before I left) then a whole lot of dumb stuff happened, sinks backing up, car problems. . . and then the coup de grace (that’s right, you guessed it) a call home from school about Boomy.

Apparently your boy started a food fight in the cafeteria so he was banned from lunch for a week (Eric had to pack him peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for him to eat in detention).

All we could do was laugh.

I am glad to be home though. I never sleep quite right when I am out of town. House was spotless when I got here, by the way. Despite the drama, E had it together.

As soon as I get some Birmingham pictures from my EP I will post them.

Happy MLK Day by the way. Don’t like to let these holidays go by without pausing to reflect. Felt much more immediate this year to me too because I got to tour the Civil Rights Institute while in Birmingham. It is right across the street from the church that was bombed killing those 4 little girls. They actually had the bars from the jail that MLK was in when he wrote “A Letter from the Birmingham Jail” If you haven’t read that do. Compelling.

Between that and the horror in Haiti I can’t help but feel super blessed. My Pain Quotient is fully globalized today and I am so much the better for it.

Peace.

I have it, am loving it and quite grateful for it.
