My Floors Are Still Dirty

Boomy never got to the floors. E contacted all of his teachers and found out all of the class work he had to catch up on in addition to the homework. He read all day and did his homework in the evening. We were still tussling with him at 8:00 pm.

My nephew was on CNN last night. He had had Acute Myeloid Leukemia at 24. None of his siblings matched him for a blood marrow transplant and the national bank for that has so few donors for black folk. (It appears that there are some cross racial blood match issues). So he was looking at a grim prognosis. But his doctor was one of the few who were doing core blood transplants from umbilical cords of new borns. He got one and he made it. CNN was doing a piece on this and he talked about his struggle.

Talk about an inspiring story. He had had cancer when he was 9, survived that. His mother (my sister-in-law) had cancer after that and beat it. Then he got leukemia and she got cancer again at the same time. He beat it. She did not.

He started a foundation in her honor: The Karen E Mumford Foundation. The foundation focuses on cancer patient care givers. His dad was caring for two gravely ill people at the same time. He realized that they needed help coping so he took his sad story and made it into a positive thing.

He is a great guy. You should check out his site on line if you get the time.

Anyway we were all excited about that last night. Funny thing too. They used a picture of him he took with all four of my step sons. Good stuff.

Hope to play tennis today for the first time in over a week. Can’t wait for that!!!

You guys have a positive and productive day!
