It's Been a While

It’s been a while since I was alone in my house.  E works out of the house.  Kids on summer vacation.  I am rarely here alone.

But it happened yesterday.  I could see it coming.  All of the stars were aligned.  Everyone had somewhere to go except me.  I got my action together.

Ipad was fixed.  Went to my favorite sub shop and got a large  roast beef and provolone with extra meat and cheese.  Cold Pespi followed by a good Australian Syrah – a bold red wine.

Found a new book.  Strictly fiction.  I am off the hard stuff for the time being.  It is called So Cold the River.  I read a sample before I bought it (unlike my last literary misstep.)

And there I was alone in my own home.  TV off.  Lights off.  Ipad is nicely back lit.  Kicking back.  Loving it.

I read.  I ate.  I drank.  I smiled.  I loved it.

Boomy and E came home after a while.  Boomy had hit a double and turned 2 double plays.  (and while I am on the topic – gotta brag – the game before he was the only guy on his team to get a hit off the other team’s star pitcher and he had two.  A single and a triple.  My baby.)

Made him mac and cheese.  And then – get this – he gets his plate and says. “Thanks Ma.”    I love him.

Good day.  No, scratch that.  Great day.

Weird thing though, last night I couldn’t sleep.  I think I know what went wrong too.  E watches news before he goes to bed and I hear the non stop political nonsense.  How do we accomplish anything  I wonder?  Politicians tweeting, every word analyzed everybody apologizing grandstanding.  What I want to know is: Is anybody thinking?

Frightening.

But I shook it off and played tennis this am.  Now I am back to feeling fabulous.  I will probably putter and stutter around 4.  But tonight, I am going to get E to watch something else or put on some earphones.  Your girl loves her sleep.

Peace.

P.S. You know I always thing of blog mates Sheila and Ms. E together and now I just thought of why.  I used to like Sheila E.  Remember her?

Ruthie, Glad to hear about the puppy.

Shadeshia and Micca, my young ones, love your pictures – don’t hurt the boys too much!!!!
